Level 2 NVQ in Retail Skills: Work effectively in your retail team

If you work in a retail environment, an NVQ in Retail Skills is a highly flexible, nationally recognised qualification that helps you to become more effective in your job and to demonstrate your skills and experience to current or future employers.

The qualification is awarded once you have shown that you can competently perform a range of tasks connected with your job. You’ll plan your programme of learning, development and assessment with your Assessor and work together to compile a portfolio of evidence that proves you’re skilful and knowledgeable in your role.

This course provides the knowledge, reference tools and evidence gathering activities for the Mandatory Unit “Work effectively in your retail team” of the Level 2 NVQ in Retail Skills. It begins by looking at the how we learn at work and helps you to assess your own strengths and weaknesses. You’ll put together a Personal Development Plan so that you can focus on developing the knowledge, skills and attitude you need to do your job more effectively.

You’ll explore different learning styles so that you can plan your learning, overcome any obstacles you face and make the most of every learning opportunity. You’ll be shown how to understand your responsibilities, how to respond appropriately to your colleagues and how to work well as part of an effective team. And finally, you’ll learn how to manage problems at work – from dealing with difficult situations to tackling unacceptable behaviour, from understanding Health and Safety law to creating a safe working environment for your team.
