Businesses are becoming increasingly reliant on computers – and that makes them an attractive target for “cyber criminals”. This course will help you to understand the IT security threats facing your business and show you how to protect the hardware, software and files that you use.
You’ll begin by exploring physical threats to security. The course shows you how to reduce the risks of hardware theft, unauthorised access to IT systems and equipment malfunction and failure. You’ll be given practical tips and guidance for saving and backing up your work so that you don’t lose everything if disaster ever does strike.
Then you’ll learn how to protect yourself from electronic threats such as viruses, spyware, hackers, hoaxes, scams and junk e-mail or spam. You’ll be shown how to avoid putting your systems at risk and how to stay safe when using e-mail and the Internet.
Finally, the course explores the laws that have been put in place to protect IT systems and the data held on them. You’ll learn about the most common IT laws you need to follow and what the consequences could be if you do not comply with them.
