Your course description

IT1 Word Processing (IT for Life)

These days, with the typing pool a distant memory, more and more people have to create their own written work directly on their PC. It’s vital that you have the skills and confidence to use word processing software competently if you are to produce professional-looking business documents.

This course gives you plenty of hands-on practice as you develop your word processing knowledge and confidence. As you learn, there are handy fact files to print out and collect. These take away guides are a great way to help you remember all the new skills - and are useful to refer back to long after the course has finished.

The course is designed for beginners, so there’s no jargon to confuse you - just simple, step-by-step instructions to help you feel comfortable around computers, no matter how nervous you are. The course begins by exploring the first things you need to know when using Microsoft Word - how to open Word, how to create and save a simple document, how to make changes and how to print out you work. Once you’ve mastered the basics, you'll explore some of the more advanced features of Microsoft Word. You'll be shown how to change margins, how to use different font styles and sizes, how to copy and move text and how to insert pictures and images into your document.
