About the course
We communicate much faster these days and in lots of different ways – by text, by phone and by e-mail. This means that many people can struggle with punctuation. According to one survey, 17% of all business letters sent contain punctuation errors [1].
Incorrect punctuation not only looks unprofessional, it can actually change the meaning of what you write.
This course will help you to get your message across clearly by giving you the skills you need to punctuate written English properly.
As you work through the course, your confidence will grow, and you’ll also be working towards a national qualification that employers value.
The course is packed with clear rules and simple tips that take the mystery out of punctuation. You’ll learn when to use capital letters, commas and full stops, how to use apostrophes correctly, when to use a hyphen and how to use bullets and numbers to write lists. The course also contains a handy Rule Book for you to print out and take away.
By completing this course you’ll be working towards the Certificate in Adult Literacy. This nationally-recognised qualification is equivalent to a GCSE, and will show employers that you have the English skills they’re looking for.
It’ll really boost your CV, and could help you get ahead at work.
